Occupation strategy is where people that believe they have a right to do as they please, so long as they do not hurt or interfere in the peace of others, actually do as they please.
Essentually, it is a modern form of squatting. By starting out with what most people accept is a legitimate action, buying the property/business, I will gain support as I am not acting as a thief. It should be clear that I am not causing conflict, the police are.
I came up with this strategy due to the New London eminent domain case. The city of New London decided to legally steal a bunch of peoples land, and resell it to a developer for the purpose of increasing the tax base. Of course the courts agreed that their gov't could indeed do it. But what I learned from the case, is that the actual title, that is, the legal ownership of the land had been transfered out of the rightful owners hands for about 4 years until the real owners actually agreed to leave. They had held the gov't off for 4 years.
This is important. The easiest way to peaceably slow or stop gov't from enforcing thier own laws, is to increase their costs of enforcement. I love this tactic, because the only way the gov't masters can defeat this, is to ignore you. This is ideal, because it is easier than trying to pressure them to leave you alone. This is where the human stubborness comes into play.
The actual strategy is broadly to increase their costs of enforcing anything they may decide to enfore against us. In concrete terms this means, if they try to evict me from my property, or a bit of communal house property, I will ignore their orders. I will then write letters to every auction house and realitor in the area, stating the ownership of the home is under dispute, and that even if the gov't arrests me, I will repeatedly go back as it is my home. This will slow down their efforts to sell the property to attempt to recoup their costs, making the process more effective from our point of view. The enForcers will have to arrest me to enforce their order. I of course will peacefully comply. This is when cameras will be important. Sunshine deters aggreession from the enForcers. Having them ready to use, will be essentual, as they like to use surprise when they arrest people. Keene police do not appear to be very aggressive, but it is better to be safe, then sorry. When they release me, I will continue to live in the home. I will continue to run my business in opposition to zoning. I of course will try to plan for the disruptions and thefts of movable property in advance as much as possible. On the home page, there are examples of where this has been a successful strategy down on the bottom of the page.
When the gov't becomes tired of enForcing their mandates, or simply judge that it is too expensive to go after clearly peaceful people, they will leave us alone.
Why is it so important for occupation strategy to work? Holding on to property, movable or fixed, is vital for any form of future industrialization. Extremely expensive industry is very sensitive and risky during uncertainty, that is why in general the more shaky a gov't is or the more it changes direction, the less industry there is.
A factory is ver expensive, and usually fixed. This makes it vulnerable to every gov't mandate, or it will be closed down. Occupation strategy holds the possibility of preventing gov't from enForcing their mandates thus increasing the overall industrial copacity.
