Anarchy House Project

Nuts and Bolts, the Practical side of Anarchy

This section is about the unglamorous aspects of Anarchy.  Since there will be (hopefully) less government intrusion and interference, there will be more freedom, but also more responsibility.  The road is less defined, and since you cannot force cooperation, you need to sometimes be creative to encourage it or find ways around those who choose to use their own freedom in ways that don't convenience you.

I don't see any reason for reinventing the wheel.  Sometimes the government is right when they mandate things, (just wrong to mandate them).

One of the biggest and most contentious issues for anarchists is the roads.  The government has been doing them for so long that is seems there is no other way to do them.

I cannot control others, but I can lead by example.  I want to enhance the freedom to travel in such a way as to still protect property rights.   Below is a  (draft) basic set of rules and promises, that mean as long as you essentually do not defraud, encroach or hurt others, I will give you the freedom to be on my land in a relatively unrestricted way.

Right of Way

I will allow Right of Way for any person on or through my property indefinitely as long as they follow the following rules:
1. Do all that you agree to do.
2. Do not encroach on other persons or their property.
Please note that rules one and two supper cede any and all other rules that follow.

3. That you only go where it is clearly marked that you are welcome, except in emergencies.
4. You agree to provide restitution based on loss to any proven violation of rules number one and two.
5. In any capacity it is your responsibility to communicate your intentions clearly to reduce the likely hood of accidents due to misunderstandings.  For example, when driving a motorized vehicle, you are responsible for indicating any desire to turn, and to ensure that you drive in a safe manner, so as to not jeopardize the safety of another, or to threaten others with aggressive driving actions.
6. If you are a person in any gov't law enforcement capacity, you are strictly forbidden.                                                   7. Rules may at some time be added in regards to traffic safety, loitering, and other activities.                                              8. As internal combustion is a pollutant, and generally harmful to others, I will likely at some later date ban the continued use on my property.

Promises I agree to make-
You will never lose your Right of Way on my property so long as you follow rules one and two on mine or others property.
You will only lose your Right of Way on my property if it can be proven that you have violated the rules one or two on mine or others property.
You may regain your Right of Way on my property if you have provided, or are making good on arrangements to provide, restitution for any damages created by a violation of rules one or two on mine or others property.

Innocent Until Proven Guilty

1. Do all you have agreed to do.

2. Do not encroach on other persons or their property.

Those who violate these rules, or Laws as Richard Maybury calls them, is choosing to cause conflict.  Conflict is inconsistent with anarchy, and should be dealt with quickly and as peacefully as possible.

Anarchy Now, not in some mythical utopian future.
